The sequel to the 2005 comic-based thriller Sin City is shaping up into a viable noir hit as director Robert Rodriguez adds more names to its growing list of actors.

Ray Liotta, veteran actor in the Goodfellas (can you already imagine his role?), will join promising English actress Juno Temple and Jeremy Piven in the cast, according to Cinema Blend.

As TotalFilm reports, the three new additions have the perfect face (Liotta), charm (Temple), and delivery (Piven) to put more punch into the sequel.

It is particularly interesting to see young Temple's role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. She has been a Sundance star who-despite her more than noble roots in the industry as daughter to director Julien Temple-has started out with smaller roles in movies like Scandal, Atonement, and The Dark Knight Rises, reports The Guardian.

The trio joins heartthrob actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has already been cast as Johnny according to Deadline, a role that was supposed to be for Johnny Depp.

The Marquee Blog reports that Josh Brolin has also committed to play Dwight. Comic book fans or moviegoers who have seen the first movie will remember him as the character portrayed by Clive Owen.

Another new face is Dennis Haysbert, most noted for his performance in the TV series 24. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is set to play Manute, originally played by Michael Clarke Duncan, who died last year in September.

Veteran casts from the first movie who will be reprising their roles include Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Jaime King, and Rosario Dawson.

Details of the plot and the characters for the newcomers are still behind closed doors, but given Rodriguez's track record for sensational and tantalizing movies, you can expect that the long wait for the sequel-eight long years, especially for devoted fans-is worth it.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill for is currently under production, and is set to release on October 4. Let's see how this new city shapes up.
