Ben Whishaw has put an end to all the speculations regarding his sexual orientation. The "Skyfall" actor has officially come out as gay and confirmed he is married to his long time partner Mark Bradshaw. In a statement obtained by the Daily Mail over the weekend, Whishaw's rep confirmed the actor is gay and has been married to his partner, Australian composer Mark Bradshaw, for a year now.

"Ben has never hidden his sexuality, but like many actors he prefers not to discuss his family or life outside of his work," his spokesman said Friday night. "Due to speculation, I can confirm that Ben and Mark entered into a civil partnership in August 2012. They were proud to do so and are very happy."

The British star, who played "Q" in "Skyfall" and is set to reprise the role in "Bond 24," has faced questions about his sexuality before.

Whishaw and Bradshaw reportedly met while working on the 2009 film "Bright Star" and got 'married' in Sydney, August 2012 in a civil ceremony.

The 32-year-old actor has always been under media glare for his sexuality, especially when he gave an interview to the gay magazine Out in March 2011 while playing a homosexual character in an off-Broadway play, "The Pride."

When the interviewer asked whether it was important for young gay people to have positive role models, the actor said that it is important "but I don't quite know yet the way to go about that. Maybe that's the transitional thing I feel I'm in the middle of at the moment."

"I have no understanding of why we turn actors into celebrities. It's difficult talking about it. That's why I didn't want to go there, but at the same time I know this is a gay magazine and that means there's a conflict there."

A friend of the couple told the Daily Mail that their family and friends are "delighted for them. Mark's a lovely guy, very talented and very close to Jane Campion. There hasn't been a chance for a big celebration because of Ben's schedule but I'm sure there will be one at some point."

So should the friends of the couple refer Ben Whishaw and Mark as the 'Shaws?'
