Slayer have destroyed metal arenas with their groundbreaking thrash tunes. They have been at the vanguard holding the banner of metal high for more than three decades.

With diabolical lyrics and album covers, thundering drums, unstoppable guitar riffs, Slayer have made a sort of benchmark for thousands of bands to come, sadly, no one can achieve what these men have. The devotees of Slayer are crazy not only about the songs but also about the members.

And in 2013, Slayer lost one of its founding members and beloved guitar player, Jeff Hanneman. He died of liver failure. Slayer stopped the tour on Oct. 30 at the Event Center at San Jose State University.

The latest tour is all about paying tribute to guitarist Jeff Hanneman. Vocalist/bassist Tom Araya told Metroactive that the band had loads of stuff lined up and then got the news of Hanneman's death. So for now, Slayer are fulfilling the obligations. Post-tour, the members will sit down and chart the course of Slayer.

Hanneman's friend and guitarist of Exodus Gary Holt filled in for him after the effects of Necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating disease that he might have contracted from a spider bite, worsened. He could not tour with Slayer since 2011.

The Latest Slayer Tour Will Serve As Closure for the Band and Fans

"We're moving forward, and finishing up the year, basically so everyone can have closure," Araya said to Metroactive. He said that the tour will allows fans to have closure and they all can remember Jeff one last time.

Araya revealed that Slayer will unleash a banner that they have created with Hanneman's name on it. When the set ends, the band drops the banner and place will go bonkers. He praised and thanked Slayer fans for coming out in great numbers for their shows.

New Slayer Album

The new album will feature Hanneman's undisclosed material that he shared with the band while he was alive.

Araya also commented that the new Slayer album will have to something extraordinary and not like any other Slayer record.

On Negative Feedback

Araya said that they have received numerous negative feedback about the things they have done over the years. "Usually our attitude about that has been 'F**k 'em!' It seems to have worked for us so far, so I doubt we'll change that aspect of the band."
