"Sleepy Hollow" Season 2 is set to resolve the issues between the two estranged sisters of the first season. Abbie and Jenny are set to be on the same side in the upcoming season. Also, there is a possibility of a love triangle involving these two sisters.

Citing Heather Kadin, executive producer of "Sleepy Hollow," TV Guide's Mega Buzz reports that Abbie and Jenny will be on the "same side" in the new season. Kadin also drops a hint that a man is likely to come between the two sisters. "There may be a male who might get in the middle of that," Kadin said to TV Guide.

Also, Abbie's relationship with her mother will be explored in Season 2. Kadin said, "Abbie's story this year really has to do with the relationship with her mother and a lot she didn't know about as a child."

TV Guide reports that Abbie's mom is said to have died, years ago, but it would not come as a surprise if she shows-up alive. It is "Sleepy Hollow" and there is no limit to what is possible.

Meanwhile, it looks like Abbie is not going to find her way out of the purgatory soon. In the Season 1 finale, Ichabod left behind Abbie in the purgatory, saying that he will come back for her. However, thanks to his son, Ichabod found himself immovable and interred. When asked about how long Abbie will be stuck in the purgatory, Len Wiseman, executive producer of the show, said, as quoted by Buddy TV, "We have 18 episodes in Season 2, that's a lot of time to get Abbie out."

The Season 1 finale also saw the arrest of Captain Frank Irving for the crimes he did not commit. A new sheriff, called Sheriff Reyes, will arrive to take his place. According to media reports, Sheriff Reyes, played by Sakina Jaffrey, will not be as easy-going as Irving.

"Sleepy Hollow" Season 2, which will consist of 18 episodes, is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 22, 2014.
