The cast of this season's much-awaited 3D spectacle arrive for its premiere in New York City.

The classic cartoon created in 1958, The Smurfs, invaded Hollywood and the big screen featuring the voices of today's hottest stars who arrived in New York's Ziegfeld Theatre for the movie's premiere. The cuddly blue little adventurers took over New York City to overcome their enemy with the help of a charming and undaunted couple, all in 3D. Instead of a red carpet greeting the stars and attendees, the premiere had a "blue carpet" to go with the color of the movie's lead stars.

Fans cheered as cast member and singer Katy Perry came in a Smurfette dress, the character she voices in the movie. Paul Reubens plays Jokey, while "The Simpsons" veteran, Hank Azaria stars as Gargamel, the Smurf's nemesis. "How I Met Your Mother" mainstay Neil Patrick Harris and "Glee" actress Jayma Mays play the middle class couple who helped The Smurfs in their adventure. Other famous faces who graced the premiere were actress Brooke Shields, designer and socialite Olivia Palermo, designer and TV star Tim Gunn, comedian George Lopez, and "Modern Family" star Sophia Vergara.

The Smurfs opens on July 29 in USA, and on September 15 in Australia.
