Snapchat Hack Attack: 3 Quick Tools To Check Account Status And 20 U.S. States Affected By Leak
Snapchat hacking scandal will freak out most users especially in the United States due to exposure of images, videos and other private details on each account. Use these tools to check if your account has been included on the leaked list.
GS Lookup - Snapchat
A website called GS Lookup - Snapchat is one of the known tools to check out leak status of a Snapchat account. Users will only need to enter the username to lookup for the status. According to the site, most users outside of the United States have lower chances to be included on the 4.6 million users leak. But for those inside the United States, check out the list of states affected by the phone number database leak based from Reddit:
1. Alaska
2. Delaware
3. Hawaii
4. Kansas
5. Maryland
6. Mississippi
7. Missouri
8. Montana
9. Nebraska
10. Nevada
11. New Hampshire
12. New Mexico
13. North Carolina
14. Oklahoma
15. Oregon
16. Rhode Island
17. Utah
18. Vermont
19. West Virginia
20. Wyoming
At least 248 U.S. area codes are not represented on the database from the website. Two Canadian area codes 867 and 204 or Northwest Territories and Manitoba respectively have been mentioned on the site as well.
Other Tools Reported
Snapcheck.org is another tool which can be used as an alternative or second-hand opinion to GS Lookup - Snapchat to ensure the current status of your account. The tool uses either a username or a phone number to determine if included on the leak list. However, the tool only checks Snapchat usernames and phone numbers registered in the United States.
LastPass is the third tool usable to check Snapchat accounts if leaked or not. As with other tools mentioned above, it requires a username only to check out an account status but offers additional services to determine compromised account passwords on Adobe, LinkedIn, Last.fm and eHarmony.
In case an account on Snapchat has been compromised by the recent hacking attack, GS Lookup - Snapchat recommends deleting the account to avoid further issues. Unfortunately, it won't delete the phone number on the circulating leaked database if it was included.
