Meanwhile, Perry she was "downright" offended by Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" music video. In an interview with the Rolling Stone, she explained that she "think[s] when you put sex and spirituality in the same bottle and shake it up, bad things happen."

"Yes, I said I kissed a girl. But I didn't say I kissed a girl while f**king a crucifix." Perry was referring to her hit single "I Kissed a Girl." The pop star claimed to have roots in gospel music and to being raised by Christian pastor parents.

Ironically, in an article that appeared in New York Times, Katy Perry is one of the female artists cited that had been influenced by Lady Gaga. "[Lady Gaga] has nudged loose conventional boundaries. The space for women in pop to try out new aesthetic identities hasn't been this vast in some time."
