Snoopybabe: The Newest Counterpart of Grumpy Cat [SLIDESHOW]
With over 200,000 Instagram followers, Snoopybabe of Chengdu, China is touted as the newest Internet sensation. It is the counterpart of the famous Grumpy Cat with more than 275,000 followers on Sina Weibo, which is China's version of Twitter.
Snoopybabe or Snoopy is a white exotic short-hair cat. It has orange fur patches around his ears with a striped orange and white tail. It has big, round eyes and a unique flat face.
Ms. Ning, Snoopybabe's owner said, "the best thing about her gorgeous pet is its pie face."
She also told Chinese Web site, A Pet Guide, that "his droopy eyes make him appear innocent all the time."
His adorable photos on Instagram are being viewed and shared by thousands of people every day. The cute pet has its own Facebook page where a lot of endearing photographs are uploaded every month. It is often seen wearing cute outfits, hats and jewelry.
The two-year-old feline's astounding popularity is posing a threat to other well-known Internet cat stars like Grumpy Cat Tardar Sauce and Japanese Cat Maru.
Grumpy Cat, who appears to have a permanent frown on her face, was so popular that she was even picked as a "spokescat" for a brand of Friskies cat food. This latest development was announced in October 2013.
On the other hand, Maru's crazy antics that were caught on video have already been viewed a million times. For a time, Maru was even hailed as the Internet's most famous feline.
But Snoopybabe will give them a run for their money because its fan base is rapidly growing.
"Its distinctive look comes from his parents, an American short-hair and the other a Persian cat," Ms. Ning said.
She added "She has been surprised by the reaction to photographs of her pet and admitted she did not expect a lot of people to comment on it."
Indeed, there seems to be an odd trend of cats being used as subjects in various Internet postings and web videos nowadays.
So, who is the most adorable cat on the Web these days? Is it Maru, Grumpy Cat or Snoopybabe? The pictures speak for themselves, right? Let the battle of the cutest Internet cat begin.
