'Sons of Anarchy' Charlie Hunnam: Actor's Psychotic Roles Gives Him an Edge to Play a Wide Range of Characters
English actor and screenwriter Charlie Hunnam is making a lot of buzz today with his upcoming thriller movie "Crimson Peak" and the start of production of his biker series "Sons of Anarchy." Best known for his wide range of psychotic roles, the SOA actor is gaining more edge to play various characters with ease and confidence as he tries to choose roles that showcase his talent.
After his ground breaking performance in "Queer as Folks," Hunnam slowly walked his way to Hollywood and was cast to play in Kurt Sutter's biker drama series. Playing Jackson "Jax" Teller in "Sons of Anarchy" and various edgy roles in "Cold Mountain" and "Green Street" has enabled him to develop his dramatic acting range.
What made him one of the elite actors in the industry is his ability to choose roles not because he wants to get famous but simply because he loves to act. The reason why he chooses to play psychotic roles and reportedly dropped out from "Fifty Shades of Grey" is because of too much publicity on it and the role that he is about to play.
Kurt Sutter is one of the few people who gave him advice about the role in "Fifty Shades" and said the actor struggled with the decision. "We had a couple long creative conversations about what the role was, what it meant. He struggled with it because obviously there's a lot of noise around that role. There's a lot of predetermined expectations. At the end of the day, and my advice to him was: Look at the material. Don't look at the history," says the controversial writer in an interview with Vulture.
"I think that's what he did. It was a very thoughtful process, I think based on all the right decisions. It was not about notoriety. It was not about money," he added.
According to Fans Share, Leonardo DiCaprio needs to make room for Charlie who is slowly becoming a big screen superstar to match his small screen popularity. Now that "Sons of Anarchy" is on its seventh and final season, the biker hunk has multiple projects lining up when "SOA" will have its premiere in September.
