Hollywood hunk Charlie Hunnam is not just a talented actor but a gifted storyteller who first rose to fame when he played Nathan Maloney in Channel 4’s groundbreaking drama “Queer as Folk.” Currently seen playing Jax Teller in FX biker drama series “Sons of Anarchy,” Hunnam is developing two more screenplays after he sold his first masterpiece “Vlad the Impaler” to Summit Entertainment with Brad Pitt’s Plan B Studios co-producing.

Focusing on the life story of Vlad the Impaler, a real-world source for Dracula myths, Charlie learned the story of Vlad from the locals of Romania while he was filming “Cold Mountain” with Australian actress Nicole Kidman. The story also tells the war between Vlad and his Muslim-raised brother, and his penchant for brutality and fighting at night were meant to strike fear in the heart of Ottoman Empire.

A real life prince whose story served as an inspiration behind Bram Stoker’s famous novel, “Dracula,” “Vlad” is not a vampire movie.

"My hope when writing it was for the end result to be more Braveheart than 300," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "And I think that as it's evolved, we've got a pretty good mixture of both.”

According to the “Pacific Rim” actor if he hadn’t managed to sell the script he would had to go back to England and live with his mother since he hadn’t acted in 18 months and was so broke. Immediately after being cast as a lead in Kurt Sutter’s “Sons of Anarchy,” the 33-year-old star sold his first screenplay when he got fascinated with Vlad, Romania’s very own national hero.

When asked who could play the perfect Vlad, Hunnam revealed that he has two actors in mind and that is Colin Farrell and Christian Bale.

“Particularly Farrell. There’s something very roguish and bad boy about Vlad, and I know Colin a little bit, and I think he has some of the characteristics that would be essential for playing this guy,” he revealed.

Now on his seventh and final season with “Sons of Anarchy,” the blonde-haired star is currently on his second film with Guillermo del Toro playing Dr. McMichael on the period thriller movie “Crimson Peak.” SOA season 7 is scheduled to premiere in September.
