‘Sons of Anarchy’ Maggie Siff & Walton Goggins Nominated for Critics' Choice TV Awards
Best known for their roles as Dr. Tara Knowles and Venus Van Damme, "Sons of Anarchy" Maggie Siff and Walton Goggins are two of the show's representative for this year's Critics' Choice Television Awards. Now on its final and seventh season, the FX biker drama series ended in a bloody murder that lead to the murder of Siff's character in the show's season six, one of the show's shocking ending.
The new mother is up against five nominees for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series including Anna Gunn as Skyler White in "Breaking Bad," Christine Baranski as Diane Lockhart in "The Good Wife," Annet Mahendru as Nina Sergeevna in "The Americans," Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier in "The Walking Dead" and Bellamy Young as First Lady Melody "Mellie" Grant in "Scandal."
The 39-year-old actress made her mark in television when she landed a role in "Mad Men" as Rachel Menken Katz from 2007 to 2008, which she earned a nomination along with the cast for a Screen Actor Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. She was cast in "Sons of Anarchy" in 2008 and ended her role as Tara in 2013 for SOA season six.
One of the many guest stars in the biker series, "Shields" former Walton Goggins made a jaw-dropping performance as transgender Venus Van Damme who wore as a**less pants and pose for incriminating pictures in his first appearance in Charming. The talented actor is nominated for two awards, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for "Justified" and Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series in "Sons of Anarchy."
When asked how his character come about, Goggins revealed that he was joking when he said that he wanted to play a transgender. "It was a conversation we had about me participating on the show and how to do it in a way that was diametrically different than how I've ever appeared on FX. I said, "Let's do it as a transgender"" he said in an interview posted on TV Guide.
"I was kind of half-serious, but I knew in the back of my head I did want to do that. A year-and-a-half later, I get a text [from Kurt] that says, "Were you serious when you said you wanted to play a transgender? Because I've written it, and I'm not going to do it if you're not going to play it.' They sent me the pages and Kurt knocked it out of the park. I really fell in love with her," he added.
