‘Sons of Anarchy’ Matriarch Katey Sagal Joins ‘Pitch Perfect 2’
Best known for her ruthless character as Gemma Teller in FX biker drama series "Sons of Anarchy," Katey Sagal will star alongside "Twilight" star Anna Kendrick in the musical movie "Pitch Perfect 2." The Golden Globe Award-winning actress is the latest star to join the cast of the musical sequel, with actress Elizabeth Banks on her directorial debut.
The news about Sagal's casting on the sequel was announced on Wednesday, May 14, by Banks via Instagram as she welcomes the veteran actress to join the cast. Banks posted a picture of Sagal with a caption that reads: "The fantastic Katey Sagal has joined our #PitchPerfect 2 fam as Hailee Steinfeld's mom. Are we fangirling yet?"
Married to "Sons of Anarchy" showrunner Kurt Sutter, the 60-year-old actress will play the mother of new cast member Hailee Steinfeld's character in the sequel. Although she is recently known for her characters on TV, Sagal is an accomplished singer and even recorded a few songs for "Sons of Anarchy" soundtrack and currently touring with her band Forest Rangers.
Although the plot of the sequel is still unknown, fans of the movie can expect the same comedy and musical treatment featured on "Pitch Perfect." Kay Cannon will return to write the screenplay and will act as one of the movie's producer.
The original cast will also return for its sequel including Rebel Wilson reprising her role as Patricia "Fat Amy," Skylar Astin as Jesse Swanson, Brittany Snow as Chloe Beale and Adam DeVine as Bumper Allen. First time director Elizabeth Banks will be heading the musical sequel which is set to premiere in 2015.

Now on her seventh and last season with "Sons of Anarchy", Sagal will return for her role as Gemma on the show's production by the end of the month. Due to premiere in September, SOA season 7 will feature Gemma as she tries to hide her involvement in Tara's murder in the show's season 6 finale.
Now one of the most hated characters in television, Sagal's role in the show earned her a number of nominations for best actress in television drama series. She won the most coveted Golden Glove Award for Best Actress in 2011.
