'Sons of Anarchy' Prequel: SAMCRO Set in 1960’s
After the Season 6 finale, "Sons of Anarchy" fans are still trying to make sense of things and the season's tragic ending. Now the "Sons of Anarchy" Season 7 is being set up as the show's last hurrah and its scheduled to premiere on September 2014.
But SOA creator Kurt Sutter, Katey Sagal's husband, happens to have plans for the shows future and SAMCRO might get a little back story. According to Deadline, Sutter is brewing a prequel for the "Sons of Anarchy" set around the time of the Vietnam War.
Sutter is not ready to leave Charming just yet and wants to made it clear for the shows spinoff and the story centers during the foundation of the "Sons of Anarchy" Motorcycle Club. FX is also interested of the prequel series which take its fans back to the days of John Teller and his feud with the young Clay Murrow.
"Now that FX has expanded and they're looking at doing standalone seasons and miniseries, I think it's probably a lot more viable than it was a few years ago," says Sutter during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"I love the idea of doing the origin story, even if it's a standalone 12-episode thing. I love the idea of doing a period piece. It definitely would have different energy, it would be a different kind of show, but I think the real fans would plug into it," adds Sutter.
But Sutter wants to take a breather first after the 'Sons' will wrap its final season. "We would probably want to rest the mythology for a season or two, meaning that I don't think we would end "Sons" and begin the prequel," reveals Sutter. "I think we would let it breathe for a couple years."
The show's Season 7will open weeks before Tara's death after the show concluded with a tragic ending in Season 6. This will be a turning point in Jax's life now that he lost his true north after losing is best friend Opie.
"Sons of Anarchy" Season 7 will bring the show's regular guest Drea de Matteo as she reprise her role as Jax's junkie ex-wife. Other stars who will return of SOA's last seaso includes Peter Weller's Charlie Barosky and Kim Dickens as Diosa madame Collete.
