Sony Pictures to Release Whitney Houston’s Final Film
As more details on the death of the talented singer Whitney Houston, Sony confirmed that the singer will star in a film set to be released this summer.
The film "Sparkle" set to be released on August 17, 2012 is the final on screen appearance of Whitney Houston. According to the IMDB website, the film is a remake of the 1976 cult classic that narrates the journey of three sisters who formed a successful singing group but must deal with drugs and lost of fame.
This musical, which is loosely based on the Supremes, stars Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston will play the role of Sparks' mother.
At the dawn of the tragic death of the singer, Sony pictures released a statement expressing their condolences to the singer's family.
"Like all those who knew and loved her, we are shocked and saddened and the world has lost an incomparable talent. Right now our thoughts are with her daughter, her family and her friends" said a statement released by Sony Pictures.
The film's producer Bishop T.D. Jakes also expressed his condolences to the singer's family and asked the people "to join us in lifting up Whitney's family in prayer and ask God for their strength and comfort during this devastatingly difficult time. At the apex of her career, Whitney had no peer, with a voice that shaped a generation. She has left behind a musical and film legacy that will endure... she will be sorely missed by us all."
Whitney Houston was found dead at her hotel room at the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards. She was 48.
