Ultrabooks are not only changing the game for computing but they are also evolving just as quickly. At the recent Computex Taipei, computer manufacturers unveiled the newest generation of these computing devices - convertible laptops.

A new wave of ultra books was shown at Computex. The newest models run on Intel's new and quick Hasswell processsors. They are also convertible giving users as much flexibility in their use. Sony released their 13-inch slider whereas Asus introduced Transformer notebook. Asus Transformer runs on Android and Windows 8 operating systems.

Other companies that showcased their convertible devices included Lenovo, LG, Dell and Acer.

These days, the term "ultrabooks" mean computing devices with touch screen and lightweight features. Now, more advanced version of these ultrabooks are available - the convertibles. Users can switch easily between a laptop and tablet mode. The "hybrid" trait of these notebooks makes them more appealing to more number of users. They also allow people to do more tasks than a laptop and tablet separate.

Sony VAIO Duo 13

Sony has been gunning for a top position in the ultrabooks market. Their latest VAIO series is even lighter than the formidable Macbook Air. The Sony VAIO DUO 11 features a compacted trackpad and keyboard. The line also runs on Intel's new Haswell / 4th generation Core i5 processor. The products include up to 128GB solid state storage. The VAIO DUO has an improved slider mechanism featuring active stylus support introduced. Sony claimed additionally that battery life can extend up to 10 hours.

New Asus Transformer Pad Infinity

The new Transformer Pad Infinity is an ideal choice for hybrid enthusiasts. It may not have made waves like the rest of the models made but this is a serious option for those who want just as much flexibility with their devices. The revamped detachable features a 1.9GHz Tegra 4 chip. It also has a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Resolution was improved to 2560×1600 resolution. Users are also treated with a redesigned keyboard dock.

Asus Transformer Book Trio

Probably one of the biggest highlights of the event is the Asus Transformer Book Trio. The Transformer Book features an 11.6-incher has a detachable display. Unlike the rest of the laptops showcased, Asus takes operating systems to a new level. The Book Trio can run on Android and Windows 8 - among the first of its kind. Inside, it has a 4th generation Core i7 processor up to 750GB hard disk including an HDMI output.

Other models featured are Lenovo Ideapad Miix 10, Acer Aspire R7 and Asus Taichi 31.
