Sony is now turning its attention on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean official update for Xperia Tablet Z after both Xperia Z and ZL had been certified. PTCRB granted certification for the official firmware upgrade on the Xperia Tablet Z and in a few weeks, Sony may be able to push the latest Android update.

PTCRB Certified LTE Version

The LTCRB Web site showed a firmware build 10.3.A.0.407 was recently certified for the LTE variant of the Xperia Tablet Z SGP321. Based on the firmware build structure, 10.3.A.X.XXX, it relates to the Android 4.2.2 update similar to the Sony Xperia Z and ZL's recent certifications.

Some updates from the Xperia Z and ZL may be included to the upcoming upgrade for Xperia Tablet Z such as new customisable navigation bar, quick settings, new widget functionalities for both lock screen and home screen and up to 64GB microSD card support for your Xperia device.

Updating Your Device

You can check for updates regularly using Over-the-Air function or by Sony PC Companion program installed on your computer.

Go to "Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates" for the Over-the-Air update and follow the instructions prompted to you if any new software is available. Make sure to create a backup of all your personal settings and data files on your tablet in case the upgrade deletes them. In addition, connect the device to its AC power and have a stable Wi-Fi connection when updating the device via OTA.

Alternatively, you can do the upgrade by using Sony PC Companion on your computer via USB cable connection. Sometimes, depending on your location, Sony requests PC Companion to be used as medium for updates. Simply install the program from their Web site and follow the methods displayed on your computer.
