The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is one of the thinnest phablets in the market today but it's mediocre camera and poor battery life may leave the user a bit disappointed. While thin is certainly the in gadget design and other Android manufacturers claim to have the thinnest device, Sony really wins with its huge phone that's actually thin. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is one of the biggest and is actually the thinnest. It comes with powerful specs but quite misses on other features that could've made it an enormous winner among the next-gen phablets.

The Xperia Z and Xperia ZL models are rectangular and quite awkward to hold even if its glass exteriors looked more pleasing than Samsung's polycarbonate devices. Still, Sony handsets still feel antiquated in design and the Xperia Z Ultra is no different. Unlike Nokia's Lumia 1520 and HTC One Max, the Xperia Z Ultra is flattened out to be super thin, not heavy or bulky and feels too fragile to the touch.

The Xperia Z Ultramakes the Galaxy Note 3 look like a normal handset and is even taller than the Samsung Galaxy Mega which is already ridiculously big. Unless you can prop the device somewhere, it is not the easiest device to watch videos on with one hand.

The Xperia Z Ultra case is dustproof and water-resistant has has pull-open tabs like its predecessors. It has a 1080p, 6.44-inch, 344-pixels-per-inch Triluminous display with a new backlight method for the most accurate color profiles from quantum dots that create light. The device runs on 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB of RAM.

The Xperia Z Ultra battery life is somehow disappointing for users, though. It has a 3050mAh battery pack that can only last for 5 hours and 38 minutes of constant video playback in Airplane mode. Even just playing a game can eat 10% in one hour. The quality of its rear-facing 8 MP camera isn't very impressive as it also lacks an exterior flash. Some images come out grainy with faded colours even if you use various modes to adjust with the shooting conditions.

The Xperia Z Ultra is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but Sony has confirmed that it will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat in the future.
