Sony Xperia Z Ultra and i1 Honagami Are Mobile Superstars, but Can They Succeed?
The mobile industry has never been dull. Almost every other day, companies will come out with nw announcements and products. So far, Sony Mobile is putting out two highly anticipated phones on the market: the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the highly speculated Sony i1 Honami camera-phone.
The Xperia Z Ultra stands out from the rest and is a mobile superstar particularly for its size. When it comes to physical dimensions, the phone is really huge. It is a phablet - a hybrid between a tablet and a smartphone.
Before the Sony's announcement of Xperia Z Ultra, the idea of phablet is only related to the Samsung Galaxy Note series. Sony is working on changing the times and turning tables. Their announcement of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is proof that the tech giant will be challenging Samsung - a possible run for their money for the current leader.
Does Sony have a shot? What makes the Xperia Z Ultra so good that analysts are ready to bank on it as the winner?
Initially, as a phablet, users have to expect that it will be big. The Samsung Galaxy Note which is rumored to have 5.9 inch display is nowhere the 6.4 inch TRILUMINOS display of the Xperia. Plus it comes with the TRILUMINOS technology exclusive to Sony. The company created a screen display mechanism allowing LCD TFT panels to offer a better and broader range of colors.
Simply put, the Xperia Z Ultra can display more vivid colors compared to any similar product on the market. The 6.4 inch display also features full HD resolution (1080 x 1920) along with a 344 ppi pixel density. It also has 10 fingers Multitouch function. The phablet can receive input regardless of the stylus. People can even use a regular pen and the device can still recognize their command. Not to mention, the display is made of scratch-resistant and shatterproof glass.
Z Ultra has IP55 and IP 58 certifications ensuring improved protections. This means the phablet can tolerate lower pressure jets of water in any direction. The product can also be 1.5 meters under water for 30 minutes without breaking. It is completely dust-proof as well.
Other impressive specs include quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz per core (this is the most powerful as of now), 16GB of on-board storage, 2GB of RAM, microSD card for expandable storage and 3000mAh battery. All these features fitted into a slim body measuring only 6.5mm. It has a similar design with the Sony Xperia Z: tempered glass on all sides, metal frame and squared corners.
