Sony's Xperia Z waterproof smartphone will soon hit stores through T-Mobile. As reviews for the Xperia Z offers positive response from the market, the question now is whether Sony's Xperia Z waterproof line can compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S4?

The Sony Xperia Z features a 10.1-inch showcase slate and a 5-inch "Full HD screen". The phone offers a pixel density at 443 ppi. It runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Another excellent feature of the device is the 13-megapixel camera. Sony uses HDR or high-dynamic range technique which allows the device to shoot excellent and clear images even in low light.

Sony has also improved the batter life of Xperia Z. USa Today reports that the device turns off automatically wireless radio and other background activities if not used. This helps extend battery life and save the phone from unnecessary usage.

As for being waterproof, Sony Xperia Z can give Samsung Galaxy S4 a run for its money.

"As with the Xperia Z tablet, and for that matter, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone that I also recently reviewed, the phone meets a specification that allows it to be under 1 meter of water for up to a half hour, provided all the ports and covers are closed," Phones Review quoted Edward C. Baig,

Xperia Z tablet was tested against different conditions for writing. A report from iDigitalTimes recommended users to buy Samsung Galaxy S4 Active if they are looking for a phone best fitted for spring. The phone can be submerged in water but still function whereas the Xperia Z supposedly can only get wet and not be underwater.
