Official Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now available for Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone which brings several major improvements based on Xperia Z3. Find out which improvements Sony Mobile added to boost performance, battery life and entertainment on Xperia Z2.

Battery Life Extended With New STAMINA Mode

Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Sony Xperia Z2 featured the new version of battery STAMINA mode used for extending battery life. But the latest version adds the exclusive Ultra STAMINA mode found on Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone that limit phone functions to prolong usage. Sony claims that Sony Xperia Z2 with enabled Ultra STAMINA mode can last more than a week in standby mode.

Performance Boosts On Several Functionalities

In addition to the default improvements provided by Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, Sony also included enhancements to voice call quality, improved touch function and performance, improved charging when battery is low, improved overall system stability and patched-up bugs with the latest fixes. User experience also received improvements such as Quick Settings with Smart Screen Rotation that determines screen rotation according the way it is being held and Record Screen option on the Power Key to record a video of the display screen.

Enhancements For Fun And Entertainment

Aside from the Ultra STAMINA mode from Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2 now supports the Remote Play for Sony PlayStation 4 feature to enable mobile gaming of PS4 titles right on the smartphone. It requires a high-speed Internet connection through home Wi-Fi network and the DUALSHOCK4 Wireless Controller.

Audio output has been enhanced with several audio engines based from Xperia Z3 as well. Sony Xperia Z2 updated to Android 4.4.4 KitKat now supports Hi-Resolution Audio playback from both PCM and DSD files, Sony DSEE HX technology to enhance MP3 and AAC files on WALKMAN app with support on Music Unlimited tunes and option to specify optimised settings for different Sony headsets.

Sony added several camera modes on the Smart Social Camera of Xperia Z2 such as Sound Photo, Augmented Reality (AR) Fun, Multi Camera and Face In. SmartBand, SmartBand Talk and SmartWatch 3 Sony SmartWear accessories including the Lifelog app are now supported on Sony Xperia Z2.
