Sony Xperia Z3 Five Things Unveiled: 2 Metres Water-Resistance, Sprint US, Specifications, LTE Certification, Sports Sensor
IFA 2014 is likely the event where Sony Xperia Z3 will appear and so far, news have revealed that the new flagship carries new features, better water resistance, expanded markets through a new network carrier and technical specifications.
Better Water Resistance
One of Sony's latest tweets revealed an improvement to the water resistance properties of selected Xperia devices that started on Xperia V and Xperia Z smartphones. Based on the tweet, the image noted a technological possibility of imparting water resistance support of up to two metres in depth.
Most Sony Xperia devices with water resistances can only reach up to 1.5 metres of depth in freshwater with a limit of 30 minutes before suffering water damage. In addition to that, these devices are also imparted with dust protection or dust-tight as of Xperia M2 Aqua.
Based on EngineeringToolbox, there is no two metre category on protection against liquids and the highest is category 8 with the definition of "protects against long periods of immersion under pressure". Users will have to find out the new Sony water resistance technology at the event.
Reaching Out New Markets
In the United States, Sony Xperia devices are exclusively handled by T-Mobile and it is unknown if the tech company will retain exclusivity after a report from Reuters that revealed intention to gain more markets via Sprint and SoftBank.
Japanese SoftBank and the U.S. network carrier Sprint will offer Sony smartphones according to the sources of Reuters. Expansion such as this is needed to increase consumer boost of Sony Mobile especially in the United States wherein Sprint is the third largest network provider.
