Sony begins official Android 4.2.2 update for the Xperia ZL for European users of the LTE version. Reports also indicate that an official update will become available for the HSPA+ version soon.

Sony Mobile goes live with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Xperia ZL C650X European LTE version. The new firmware has a build number of 10.3.A.0.423 and currently being pushed for European users.

Android 4.2.2 official firmware for Xperia ZL includes the following change logs:

  • Latest version of Sony Media Apps with seamless integrated services
  • My Xperia application that helps you find your phone and secure everything you have on it.
  • New customisable navigation bar with Quick Settings
  • New widget functionalities, both on lock screen and home screen
  • Support for bigger (64GB) SD card so that you can store even more on your Xperia

Upcoming Official Update for Other Countries

Sony Xperia ZL C560X LTE isn't the only variant to get Android 4.2.2 update this year but also other variants from different countries. According to some reports, Sony Mobile will be releasing several updates for the all variants of Sony Xperia ZL including the C6502 HSPA+ version, C660X and the North American C6506 variant.

Updating the Sony Xperia ZL

Right now, the update can only be retrieved by using the Sony PC Companion on your computer.

1. Simply download the installer from the Sony Mobile Web site and install it on your PC or laptop.

2. Connect your phone via USB cable to your computer and let drivers to be installed.

3. Follow the instructions once you get the prompt from Sony PC Companion.

For those who cannot wait or cannot update using the Sony PC Companion, you can download the FTF firmware for U.S., Brazil and Germany and manually install it using the Flashtool.
