This year's MTV Music Awards will be graced by the performance of soul queen Adele, rap royalty Lil Wayne and R&B singer Chris Brown.

MTV's buzzworthy blog has confirmed that these stars will be at the the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards set for 28 August, Sunday.

Adele, the British soul singer who captured the global audience with her compositions and powerful voice had sold more than 2.5 million copies with her second album "21." Her lead single, "Rolling in the Deep" has received nominations for including Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

The "Rolling in the Deep" director Sam Brown, who is known for his auteur touch on pop media, also garnered nominations for Best Art Direction and Best Direction. The video's sharp editing done by Art Jones at Work has been nominated and is up against artistically made videos of Jared Leto's group "Hurricane", Kanye West&Rihanna's Kanye West f/ Rihanna and Kid Cudi's "All Of The Lights", Katy Perry f/ Kanye West video "E.T." and Manchester Orchestra "Simple Math" .

Adele, who'll be making her VMA debut, wasn't coy about her excitement, sharing on her blog that she's "flabbergasted about the VMA nominations! Thank you, thank you MTV! I'm thinking about releasing a range of chairs to celebrate!"

The MTV blog said that joining 2011's biggest breakout star will be Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, each receiving multiple nominations. Brown's "Look At Me Now," featuring Wayne and Busta Rhymes, earned the singer a Best Hip Hop Video and Best Collaboration nomination, while his appearance on Big Sean's "My Last" helped earn Sean a Best New Artist nod. Wayne, whose heavily anticipated Tha Carter IV will be available immediately after the VMAs, grabbed a Best Hip Hop Video nomination with the Cory Gunz-assisted "6 Foot 7 Foot" in addition to "Look At Me Now."
