'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' release date: RPG game likely for September
'South Park: The Stick of Truth' is likely to get its next-gen successor titled 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' later this year. Though the RPG game is pencilled in for a release in Ubisoft's next fiscal year (April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018), it could hit the stores as early as September, per fresh reports.
A recent leak revealed that the next South Park game will be featured during the E3 conference betwen June 13-15 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. At the conference, Ubisoft is expected to provide more details about the game and its possible release date.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole release date: September?
In September, McFarlane Toys is launching three new South Park Construction sets based on the animated TV series and the upcoming video game. This announcement led to IGN speculating that 'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' could also be primed for a September release.
"The release of both The Fractured But Whole sets could mean the game itself will be releasing in September, which fits with Ubisoft's most recent statements about the game's release date," IGN wrote in a report published earlier this month.
While the 2014 smash hit 'South Park: The Stick of Truth' was built around a medieval fantasy that saw Stan, Kyle, Eric, Kenny and others fight over the rights to the all-powerful Stick of Truth (a wooden stick), the new game will feature a war between Cartman's Coon and Friends and another group led by Mysterion.
Once again, the 'new kid in school' will be the primary protagonist forced to choose sides between the Coon and Friends and the other group led by Mysterion. The likes of The Coon (Cartman), The Human Kite (Kyle), Mysterion (Kenny), Toolshed (Stan), Professor Chaos (Butters), Mint Berry Crunch (Bradley) and others will all be a part of the game.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole: Play as a boy or a girl
Unlike the previous edition, gamers will be able to customise the 'New Kid' as a boy or a girl. According to Game Radar, the New Kid walks into his parents having sex which triggers his/her metamorphosis. "As for your harrowing origin story, well, six-year-old you had the misfortune of walking in on your parents having sex. On that day, everything changed (somehow), and you started on your path to upholding all that is good and just in South Park."
According to the official website, the game will feature "more than twice the amount of content than South Park: The Stick of Truth. Created, written, voiced, and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park: The Fractured But Whole is authentic, interactive South Park at its finest -- hilarious, outrageous, and a whole lot of fun. Everything is bigger, longer, and goes deeper than before."
'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in the near future. ‘South Park season 21’ will run through September and December later this year. There’s every possibility that the game is released prior to the new season.
