'Spectre’ Production Photo Hints At James Bond 24 Plot, Important Cast To Return
Filming for "Spectre" is already underway, and production has the photo to prove it. The image even supposedly gives a hint of what's to come in the James Bond 24 movie, specifically a possible return of an important cast member in the series.
Production for "Spectre" shared its first photo via the official James Bond 007 Facebook page. Seen from the image at the top corner is a porcelain figurine of a French Bulldog, which, according to Deadline, belongs to Bond's boss, M (Judi Dench). The item reportedly survived the fire in "Skyfall." It was handed to James Bond by Moneypenny near the end of the movie, saying, "Maybe that was her way of telling you to take a desk job," to which Bond replies, "Just the opposite!"
The presence of the porcelain hints two possible scenarios that could happen in the James Bond 24 movie. As per Collider, it's a character nod to Judi Dench's M and her influence on James Bond. Writer Perri Nemiroff supposed the item represents M's relationship with James Bond and her way of conveying to the MI6 agent that "he can survive it all," just like how the figurine survived the fire. Likewise, Deadline claims it also hints at the possibility of Dench's M looming over "Spectre." After all, as per the site she also survived the fire in "Skyfall," so it's likely for her to make a comeback in the sequel.
However, as far as casting goes, only actors Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear and Naomie Harris were announced. Kinnear will reprise his role as Tanner and Harris as Moneypenny. Judi Dench wasn't announced since "Spectre" already has Fiennes as the new M.
Moreover, all that's revealed so far in terms of "Spectre" plot details were based on the official synopsis provided by Sony Pictures Entertainment courtesy of Reuters. In an official statement about the James Bond 24 movie, the studios revealed that the movie starts off with "a cryptic message from Bond's past" that sends him on a trail to track and unravel a sinister organisation. "While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE," the studio said. Ralph Fiennes may have been cast as the new M, but the synopsis still leaves the imagination running that perhaps it's still giving emphasis to Judi Dench's M.
