Spider-Man will be returning to Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving behind Andrew Garfield according to latest reports. The announcement about Spider-Man joining Marvel Universe created quite a stir among the fans as it leads up to the possibility of exciting crossovers. But fans of Andrew Garfield may not be too happy with the news because reports claim that the actor will no longer portray the role of the well-loved superhero.

Linda Ge of The Wrap made the big announcement on Feb. 10, 2015 via a Twitter post. The reporter confirmed that Andrew Garfield is “no longer Spider-Man” and the studio will cast a new actor to play the role. The 31-year-old actor portrayed the role of Peter Parker and his alter ego of a superhero in 2012 and 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” 1 & 2.

According to the Twitter post, it can be said that the Sony character will be introduced in a new Marvel movie such as “Avengers,” “Thor,” “Ant-Man,” and “Captain America.” It will be followed by a “solo film” of the character by Marvel.

On Monday, Marvel made the big announcement stating that Marvel’s big boss “Kevin Feige will produce next instalment of the Spider-Man franchise with Amy Pascal” according to the report on Marvel.com. “Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films,” the report read. The report stated that a Marvel film will feature a “new” Spider-Man. However, it does not state if it will be a new actor portraying the role.

Meanwhile, fans can anticipate a lot of surprises and changes. According to Wall Street Journal (via Comingsoon.net) Spider-Man joining Marvel Universe means delay in the release of Drew Goddard’s “Sinister Six.” However, it is confirmed that the movie is still in development and will be released on an unspecified date. The film was originally scheduled to hit the theatres in November, 2016.

Fans are eager to see Spider-Man battling alongside Avengers or other Marvel superhero. It is reported that Spider-Man will make his Marvel debut in the third part of “Captain America” subtitled “Civil War.” The character will make his debut alongside Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther.

Further, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that director Marc Webb will not be directing the third Spider-Man movie. As for producer Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad, they will be serving as executive producers “with no real say in the creative direction” of the future movies.
