'Spider-Man' reboot: 'Birdman' star Michael Keaton in talks to play the villain
Michael Keaton, the star of the popular “Birdman” movie, is reportedly in talks to play the role of the villain in the forthcoming “Spider-Man” reboot. Very few actors have been cast in the movie and more casting news for the movie is expected soon.
Keaton hasn’t signed a deal yet, but is in early talks to play the villain in the movie, Variety reports. This will not be the first time that the veteran actor will be seen in a superhero movie. In 1992 the actor played the role of the Caped Crusader in “Batman Returns” opposite to Michelle Pfeiffer, who played Catwoman. Before that he played the lead role in the 1989 movie “Batman.”
Marvel and Sony have so far not commented about holding talks with Keaton. So far the confirmed cast members of the movie include Tom Holland in the lead role, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya in an undisclosed role. The producers have also not revealed the plot of the “Spider-Man” reboot.
The producers have also not revealed the name of the villain in the forthcoming movie, which Keaton is expected to play. A previous report by Birth Movies Death suggested that the villain this time around is going to be Vulture. It is still not clear if the Vulture will be the main villain in the movie, but rumours suggest that it will be a “non-main villain.”
Sam Raimi apparently wanted to use the Vulture as the main villain when he was in charge of the franchise. He, however, had to make do with Venom. The franchise was later rebooted.
The forthcoming “Spider-Man” reboot will be directed by Jon Watts. Watts has worked on movies like “Clown” and “Cop Car.” Holland will first appear as the wall crawling superhero in “Captain America: Civil War.”
