'Spider-Man Unlimited' Enters The Spider-Verse
It looks like our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is taking a break from taking down the Sinister Six. Spidey and a cascade of different Spider-Men and Spider-Women enter the Spider-Verse to take on Morlun and the inheritors in the latest update from developer Gameloft, reports Bamsmackpow.free-to-play infinite runner "Spider-Man: Unlimited."
The free-to-play infinite runner "Spider-Man: Unlimited" is scheduled for an update arriving this week. It ties in with the current ongoing event storyline in the pages of the Amazing Spider-Man comic, "Spider-Verse." Conceptualized by long-time Spider-Man writer Dan Slott with artists Oliver Coipel and Guiseppe Camuncoli, "Spider-Verse" features a multitude of different Spider-Men from various universes uniting to stop one common threat: the vampire like creature known only as Morlun and his army of Inheritors.
The storyline kicked off during Free Comic Book Day where the villain took down the 1602 version of the world's favourite wall-crawler and has been on an ongoing rampage to kill all of the Spider-Men. This was later followed up on in "Amazing Spider-Man #7" and "Superior Spider-Man #32" and #33. Along with the main storyline there are several comic tie-ins that star different characters with different objectives from the web-slinging superhero.
Of course, "Spider-Man: Unlimited" isn't the only form of entertainment linked to the storyline as the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon has also adapted the storyline with a similar premise. In fact, the animated version of Peter Parker appears in the comic as well, humorously less detailed on purpose as to not confuse the reader.
Gameloft released the trailer on its official Facebook page and from the looks of it, there will be a brand new environment that may possibly be based on Marvel's alternate future timeline known as 2099. Whateveraspidercan has confirmed three of the eight new playable characters: Miles Morales a.k.a. Ultimate Spider-Man, Silk and Spider-Man U.K.
Expect this update to fix several bugs in the game that plagued the previous patch like the glitch that made the special characters worth 500 ISO-8 or the minor complaints, such as unnecessary slow-down and somewhat unresponsive controls. With a new update must come new events so expect to battle more than a thousand players for the chance to win a brand new character and other awesome prizes.
"Spider-Man: Unlimited" has swung to both iOS and Android devices, completely free of charge. With the update coming later this week that promises more Spider-Men and more challenges, there's no better time to swing into the Spider-Verse than now.
