'Spider-Man's' Emma Stone Speaks Up on Her Role
When rumors about Emma Stone being cast for the "Spider-Man" reboot hit the streets, fans of the comics and the first movie franchise initially thought she would be play the red-haired darling of Peter Parker, Mary-Jane Watson.
But after news came out that she had dyed her hair a golden blonde, it finally dawned that this "Spider-Man" might be a bit different from the first three.
There is only one name that falls into any Spider-Man fan's head when "blonde" and "Peter Parker" are placed in one sentence: Gwen Stacy, the golden-haired first love of the well-loved superhero.
Although very little is known about the upcoming summer blockbuster, the "Easy A" star did share some information on the most-anticipated superhero movie reboot of 2012, dismissing any idea about any MJ-Gwen confusion.
"Her father was the police chief. ... She's the oldest in her family (and) she has younger brothers. She is very responsible and very protective of her family and she loves science; she is a valedictorian. She has her whole life planned out for her and then she gets to know Peter," Stone told The Vancouver Sun, as reported by Huffington Post.
"They teach each other so much, because they're from two so totally different backgrounds and experiences. . . . He's never really known sit-down family dinners with siblings and parents, and what it's like to grow up in one house your whole life, and be under the thumb of your father," added Stone.
Based on Stone's statement, the movie will have a deeply set background for each character. Dr. Connors aka the Lizard is rumored as the villain.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" is set to hit the screens July 3, 2012.
