Spielberg may Direct Biblical Epic "Gods & Kings"
The King of Blockbuster Movies, Steven Spielberg, can easily write the Bible for filmmaking. Now the talented director is out to make a film from one of the stories from the Bible.
Spielberg is known for his finesse in creating epic and awesome movies. With two movies soon to hit the big screen, namely "The Adventures of Tintin" and "War Horse," does the director still have enough time to direct and produce more box office hit movies?
Well, it is definitely one big yes. Spielberg still has enough time to direct more movies, one of which is the rumored "Gods & Kings."
Deadline is saying negotiations are on the way. Reports say that the director is to team up with Warner Bros. The script has already been penned by Stuart Hazeldine and Michael Green, who have gotten people up on their toes in anticipation of the great output of the said movie.
If Steven Spielberg does accept the role as director of the story of the biblical Moses, "Gods and Kings," how would he tell the tale of the plight of the Hebrew slaves? Would he take on Cecil B. DeMille's 1956 version of "The Ten Commandments" which is also about the story of the Hebrew slaves' escape from the Pharaoh of Egypt? Reports say no and of course there is no doubt that Spielberg will come out with a better and greater version for this.
Anyone smell another Academy Award for this? That is if it goes through.
With Spielberg's schedule jam packed, film critics over the world are wondering if he'd even have time to direct another. Spielberg is set to head to Montreal for the "Robopocalypse" shoot over the summer and is currently in production for another movie, "Lincoln."
Calculating the time it takes to make movies and the time it hits the cinemas, if Spielberg does agree to direct "Gods & Kings," the earliest possible showdate would be in 2013. Moses may not have an expiration date but if Spielberg's said associates, Warner Bros, want the movie rolled up soon, then the award-winning director may not be their best choice.
