After the holidays, many are struggling to get back to their fit and healthy lives after having drank and eaten so much. Hence, online health tips flood the Internet like wildfire. Several sport psychologists from London revealed several music genres that can help in losing weight in a more interesting way.
They discovered rap music can help render most beats per minute for every session of running and stretching. If the person is aiming for strength training, then it's dance music that should be settled for. Pop music can be used for cooling down or warming up, while rock is not advisable at all due to altering changes in terms of tempo.
The team of sports psychologists was led by Dr Costas Karageorghis from the Music in Exercise and Sport Group at Brunel University in London. They analysed about 6.7 million playlists in Spotify which contains the term "workout" in its title. They compared the various beats per minute of the songs used in the workouts.
Dr Karageorghis added that individuals should listen to workout songs that will make them feel young again or even those that will remind them of their teenage years. Even celebrity trainer Joey Gonzalez believes in the usefulness of matching exercises and runs to a particular music's beat.
The researchers made up an ideal workout playlist composed of suggested songs for cooling down, warming up, strength training, cardio exercises and a lot more. Here are some of the songs included in their recommended workout playlist:
"Roar" by Katy Perry, 92 BPM, mental preparation
"Talk Dirty" by Jason Derulo, 100 BPM, stretching
"Skip To The Good Bit" by Rizzle Kicks, 105 BPM, stretching
"Get Lucky" by Daft Punk ft. Pharrel Williams, 116, aerobic warm-up
"Move" by Little Mix, 120 BPM, aerobic warm-up
