Real life Canadian astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield is all giddy to make a milestone in the history of space science as he converses for the first time via a scheduled space chat rendezvous with fellow Canadian and actor William Shatner, more known as Star Trek's 'Captain Kirk,' yet another prominent icon in the global movie and television history.

The two gentlemen, whose relationship and acquaintance was first documented through their Twitter accounts, will now meet in a more public space through a live-streamed conference call organized and facilitated by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).

The space chat rendezvous has been scheduled on Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time. Apart from Messrs Hadfield and Shatner, another CSA astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, will join the fray.

Via video, Commander Hadfield will speak to 81-year-old Mr Shatner, who will be on the phone, for 10 minutes, in front of an audience of "space tweeps" gathered at the CSA for scientific presentations and demos.

Moreover, tweeps will be given the chance to ask questions in real-time to Commander Hadfield.

In charge of the International Space Station (ISS), which is currently orbiting more than 200 miles above the Earth, Commander Hadfield became famous for posting dozens of images of Earth and its ongoings regularly via social media.

He has been in space since December last year and will spend the next six months on board the ISS.
