"Star Trek Online" fans will soon have their hands on "Season 12: Reckoning." The update is already available on the PC and Mac and will be available for both Xbox One and PS4 on April 18.

The press release via the Arc Games website says, "the new update sends players on a mission with the Lukari to investigate an ominous new threat, the dreaded Tzenkethi." In the new content, captains are able to access a new featured episode, crafting school, two Tzenkethi space queues and a full space battle zone.

According to the developer, the game is based on the "Of Signs and Portents" episode and captains join Lukari on a mission to explore the new region of the Alpha Quadrant and reports of a weaponised use of protomatter. They discover an intelligent, militant species - the Tzenkethi - who are developing a weapon that can wipe out entire planets. They team up with General Rodek, a legendary Klingon, and together find a way to prevent the Tzenkethi's attack.

In addition to this, new content will arrive with the update that includes the Lukari Restoration Reputation, the new Kits and Modules Research School, a full space battlezone and two new space queues, “Gravity Kills” and “The Tzenkethi Front.”

'Star Trek Online' Game Info

"Star Trek Online" is a game developed by Cryptic Studios. The massively multiplayer online role-playing game is a third player shooter set in the 25th century. Based on the "Star Trek" series created by Gene Roddenberry, the plot takes place 30 years after the events in the "Star Trek: Nemesis."

There are four key features to the game -- the first being the depth. Players can interact with characters from the TV show complete with voiceovers while exploring the galaxy's four quadrants. Experience immersive combat where players can create a Captain who commands a spaceship and group exploration teams.

The game allows for optimal customisation where gamers are the captain with the ability to create their own avatar, bridge crew and starships. Lastly, "Star Trek Online" will have regular updates, which will introduce new locations, characters and features synonymous to the expansive "Star Trek" universe.

"The Reckoning" update follows a recent expansion, specifically February's Agents of Yesterday back in mid-February. For PC players, Reckoning hasn't been that old; it was only released for PC devices in January. Learn more about the title and update via the Arc website.
