The production crew of "Star Wars" 7 has reportedly reached a remote island in Ireland. The island is a Unesco World Heritage site known as Skellig Michael. The island is reportedly off limits to people other than the filming crew currently.

Many of the "Star Wars" fans have reached the area to see the production of the popular upcoming movie. According to a report by Daily Mail, the director, J. J. Abrams, and other crew members are currently on Skellig Michael filming the movie.

The history of Skellig Michael may give the readers some clue as to why the location was chosen to film "Star Wars" 7. The remote island was once home to ascetic monks who shunned being closer to civilisation in order to be close to God.

The site also holds a monastery where the monks lived and prayed. The monastery and the island is said to have been later abandoned after the monks moved to the mainland. But the island continued to be a revered place and monks would sometimes visit the place for pilgrimage.

According to a leaked plot of "Star Wars" 7 the movie will essentially be about trying to locate Luke Skywalker. According to a report by Badass Digest, the opening scene will be a severed hand of Luke floating in space and will later be found by the characters played by Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

The two will reportedly be joined by Han Solo and Chewbacca as they go to search for Luke. Readers who have watched the original "Star Wars" trilogy will remember that Luke is the only known Jedi in the galaxy. Fans expected him to rebuild the Jedi Order and help rebuild the Republic Senate and bring back democracy to the galaxy in the upcoming movie.

"Star Wars" 7 will be set 30 years after the events of the original trilogy. The cast from the original trilogy featuring in the upcoming movie include Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Carrie Fisher as Leia. Harrison Ford, also in the original trilogy, was recently injured while filming a scene. The actor playing the role of Han Solo in the movie is said to be recovering well.
