Star Wars 7: Sheamus Hints at Darth Vader Role
The WWE wrestler Sheamus is giving strong hints that he may be playing the role of Darth Vader in the upcoming movie "Star Wars" 7. The movie is currently being filmed and is expected to be released on Dec 18, 2015 in Australia, U.S, Canada, UK and New Zealand.
The first hint Sheamus gave on his Twitter account was on July 28. He tweeted that he was heading to Skellig Michael. The island is reportedly being used to film "Star Wars" 7. This gave rise to a possible role for the wrestler in the movie.
The role was hinted at in a tweet on July 30. In the tweet, Sheamus neither denied nor confirmed that he was playing the role of Darth Vader, although he did post an image which carried the title "Sheamus set to reveal his Darth side."
Sheamus is not new to playing the role of Darth Vader. The wrestler reportedly donned the costume for a promotional tour of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." There has still not been any official confirmation from the producers about the character in question and the casting reports.
Fans of the franchise are treating the rumours of Darth Vader's return with a lot of scepticism. The character died in the original trilogy, after fulfilling the ancient prophecy of bringing balance to the Force. The viewers saw the character die on screen and even got to see his spirit towards the end of "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi."
Fans of the franchise believe that perhaps the only way Darth Vader will be able to return is in flashback scenes. The report has nevertheless brought some excitement to the fans who wanted to see a bigger role for the character in the recent trilogy.
"Star Wars" 7 is set 30 years after the events of the first trilogy. The plot details and the main villain in the new movie are yet to be revealed. The cast from the original movie reprising their roles include Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. They will be playing the roles of Luke Skywalker, Leia Solo and Han Solo respectively. The other familiar characters in the upcoming include Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2.
