'Star Wars: Clone Wars': Trailer shows return of Ahsoka
The “Star Wars: Clone Wars” animation TV series will be back with season 7. A trailer of the show was released at the San Diego Comic Con, confirming the continuation of the story in the same style as before.
The trailer [see below] came as a big surprise for the fans at the event. The story of the popular clones like Rex, Fives, and Commander Cody will continue. Popular characters like Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi will also be back, along with the grand army of the Republic.
The former apprentice Ahsoka Tano will also be back, and judging by the trailer she will be involved with some Mandalorians. Some of the other interesting characters that the fans can hope to see are Count Dooku, the Emperor, Hondo, Cad Bane, and Darth Maul.
Six seasons of the popular animation series have aired, the last one airing in 2014. But, the story remained unfinished. The continuing TV series now intends to finish that story.
Dave Filoni will be the showrunner yet again. Filoni was the executive Producer for the “Rebels” TV series and the upcoming “Resistance” series as well. It will be interesting to see what connections and crossovers will be featured in the upcoming shows, especially between “Clone Wars” and “Rebels.”
Among the storylines the series is expected to explore are the unanswered questions about who survived after Order 66 killed most of the Jedi, and how clones like Rex managed to detect and get rid of their brain implant. The series has already teased how one of the clones found out the secret, but failed to expose the truth in time.
The producers didn’t give an exact release date for “Star Wars: Clone Wars.” The show, however, is expected to air some time in 2019. The priority for Filoni at the moment should be the “Resistance” series that airs later this year.
