A new image of a villain from "Star Wars: Episode 7" has emerged online. The image is different from the cyborg villain that fans of the franchise may have seen in recent leaks. The image shows the character clutching a very different looking lightsaber. [Spoiler Alert!]

The image was reportedly first leaked on the image hosting website Image Shack but was quickly deleted. A copy of the image was saved by StarWarsUnderworld. The authenticity of the image has reportedly been confirmed by other popular websites known for leaking "Star Wars: Episode 7" concept arts and pictures like Indie Revolver and Making Star Wars.

The image shows a figure wearing a mask and holding a lightsaber, which looks like a design inspired by the swords of medieval knights. The lightsaber has two mini sabers at the hilt, which may be used to stab someone at close range.

The report points to the mask being a combination of Darth Vader and Darth Revan. Fans of the franchise who have watched the movies will be familiar with Darth Vader. Darth Revan, however, is a popular character in the "Star Wars" games.

The MMO game "Star Wars: The Old Republic" recently unveiled the expansion pack for the game titled "Shadow of Revan." Darth Revan has been both a strong Jedi and a powerful Sith. He will pose a threat to both Republic forces as well as the Empire in the game.

The report on the movie also hints at the character being "some kind of Sith historian." An earlier report from IndieRevolver suggested Adam Driver was a wealthy aristocrat looking for Sith artifacts from across the galaxy. A few images of the actor later emerged online in a rebel pilot spacesuit, which seemed to go against this leak. The role of Sith artifacts, however, may play a role in the plot of "Star Wars: Episode 7."

"Star Wars: Episode 7" is slated to be released on Dec. 18, 2015 in Australia, Canada, the UK, New Zealand and the U.S. The three cast members from the original trilogy who will be reprising their roles in the upcoming movie are Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
