There has been a lot of excitement around the casting for the upcoming "Star Wars" Episode 7 movie. Fans are eagerly watching for any information of the roles, which may drop some hints to the possible story line.

According to the Hollywood Reporter the producers of "Star Wars" Episode 7 are looking for an actor around 40 years old to play the role of a military man like Matt Damon in the movie "Elysium." Here are 5 roles the actor can play in the upcoming movie.

Role #1 - Jedi

With the Sith and the clone wars wiping out most of the Jedi there are very few options left for the script writers of "Star Wars" Episode 7. The movie can choose to feature either just Luke trying to train a new batch of Jedi or look for a reclusive Jedi in hiding. The wit, humour and agility of Matt Damon make him a good candidate for the role of a Jedi.

Role #2 - Sith Lord

Matt Damon has also played a few dark roles. Most of these roles are not evil but show a darker shade of the character. A strong Sith role like Darth Vader may be too much for the fans to digest but a slow and incremental show of evil like the emperor may work.

Role #3 - Bounty Hunter

One of the best roles of Matt Damon was that of Jason Bourne. Playing the role of a bounty hunter may not be so difficult for the veteran actor after playing the assassin spy. "Star Wars" fans' liking for the Bounty hunter role in the movies has also been recognised by the movie makers with a spinoff reportedly focussing on bounty hunters.

Role #4 - Diplomat

An eloquent speaker who can stir the passions of the audience can play the role of a diplomat. Many of Matt Damon's fans still remember his role as a passionate lawyer in the movie "The Rainmaker." Many Diplomats will now be needed if the galaxy in the "Star Wars" universe needs to become a republic once again.

Role #5 - Pirate/Smuggler

In times of war smugglers and pirates tend to make a lot of money. Harrison Ford played the role of a smuggler who fought against the evil empire in the original trilogy. Matt Damon, who has played both positive and negative roles on screen, could make a good smuggler in "Star Wars" Episode 7.
