'Star Wars: Episode 8': Carrie Fisher's daughter to have bigger role; No hair buns
Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd will be getting a bigger role in “Star Wars: Episode 8,” the actress confirmed in a recent interview. She also confirmed that she will be getting a new hairstyle this time around.
In an interview with BUILD Series, Lourd (Lieutenant Connix) said that she will be reprising her role in Rian Johnson’s film. There was a lot of speculation about the actress playing Young Leia in a flashback sequence, but later she got to play a Resistance officer with only one line. This time, the actress confirmed, she will have more than just one line.
In “The Force Awakens” there was an Easter egg of the original trilogy with Lourd sporting the buns hairstyle of her mother. The actress revealed that her character will be getting a new hairstyle in the upcoming movie.
Lourd is contractually obligated not to reveal any substantial details about “Star Wars: Episode 8,” so she did not reveal too much about her character or the storyline. Talking about what it was like to be working with her mother, the actress said that initially they were each nervous about the how the other was performing in the scene. The work was, for that reason, stressful at the beginning, but the duo started to have fun on the set later on.
Answering a question on what it was like to work with “The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams, Lourd said that it was “absolutely incredible.” She said that he was a dream and fun to work with. She added that he has a great sense of humour and is supportive.
Lourd also complimented “Star Wars: Episode 8” director and said that Lucasfilm is picking the right people to direct these movies, and added that the franchise is in good hands. The next film is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017.
