'Star Wars: Episode 8': Daisy Ridley confirms movie will reveal Rey's parents
Cast member Daisy Ridley spoke about some of the theories and speculation regarding “Star Wars: Episode 8” in a recent interview. The actress confirmed that the upcoming movie will reveal details about Rey’s parents and asked the fans to be a little patient.
One popular theory about Rey (Daisy Ridley) is that she could be related to Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” In terms of the timeline, the spin-off movie is set many years before the upcoming movie, which makes the theory quite possible.
In an interview with Vulture, Ridley dismissed the idea at first by saying that it wouldn’t work. She later said that Jyn could be Rey’s grandmother and conceded that it is theoretically possible and could happen in a galaxy far far away.
Another theory about Rey’s parents is that she is the daughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi Master who made a name for himself during the Clone Wars and later chose a life of solitude when the Republic turned into the Empire.
Ridley was evasive about the question, and said that the fans will get an answer to that question when “Star Wars: Episode 8” will be released next year. The Obi-Wan connection is based on the fact that Rey was also seen to be more of a solitary person in “The Force Awakens.”
So far, the fans have only got hints about Rey’s background through flashback scenes in “The Force Awakens.” The character was left on the desert planet of Jakku when she just a little girl. She has some connection to Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) may know about her back story.
“Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia. The movie has been directed by Rian Johnson. Filming has already been completed and the movie is currently in the post production phase of development.
