'Star Wars: Episode 8': Laura Dern having the time of her life
Laura Dern is one of the new cast members of “Star Wars: Episode 8.” In a recent interview the actress paid tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, and also talked about her time filming the movie. The actress did not, however, reveal anything substantial about the plot or the character she is playing.
In an interview with ETOnline Dern talked about how big an impact Fisher’s character Leia had on the lives of everyone. The actress said that over the years all her female friends, at least once in their lives, have put on the Princess Leia costume during Halloween. She added that for her, personally, watching the 1977 “Star Wars” film was an “incredible gift.”
Dern said that Fisher has always been “one of the most extraordinary beacons” and called her “an original icon.” The actress passed away on Dec. 27, 2016 after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
Fisher finished filming her scenes for “Star Wars: Episode 8.” The actress was supposed to be a part of the final film in the new trilogy, but that will not happen now. Lucasfilm has confirmed that the company has no plans to use CGI to bring Leia back.
Talking about her time on the set, Dern said that she had the time of her life. The actress did not talk about the plot of the next movie, and also did not reveal any details about her character.
Dern will be joined by Benicio Del Toro this time around. Details about the characters the two actors are playing is being kept under wraps. The fans have been speculating about these roles for some time now. The official details may only be released in April, when the first full trailer of the film will air.
“Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to be released on Dec. 15 in Australia. The movie has been directed by Rian Johnson, and is currently in the post production phase of development.
