'Star Wars: Episode 8': Patience My Padawans, says Mark Hamill as filming about to wrap; Theory on Rey's powers
Filming of “Star Wars: Episode 8” will wrap by the end of this month, Mark Hamill has confirmed on Twitter. The movie will then go in for the post production phase, but the cast may be asked to return once more if there are any reshoots.
“Patience My Padawans,” Hamill (Luke Skywalker) wrote in his tweet. A Padawan is a young Jedi apprentice who learns the ways of the Force from an experienced Jedi Master. This is expected to be Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) role in the upcoming movie.
Director Rian Johnson had previously said that he is almost done with the filming. Hamill now confirms that they will be done by July 22nd, which is just days after the Star Wars Celebration event in London ends. The first few official details about the movie, including the title, are expected to be revealed at the event.
Hamill chose not to reveal anything in response to a query from a fan asking about “Star Wars: Episode 8.” “Loose Lips Sink Starships,” the actor wrote. He also pointed out that the first spin off of the franchise “Rogue One” is set to be released earlier than his movie. The next trailer and more details about the spin off are also expected soon.
Meanwhile, fans continue to rely on leaks and speculate about the plot of Hamill’s movie. A new theory posted on the YouTube channel of Mike Zeroh suggests that Rey has incredible mind reading abilities.
[Spoiler alert]
As evidence, Mike points out that Rey was quickly able to tell that Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) deepest fear is that he will never be as powerful as Darth Vader. He also suggests that Rey was able to read Luke’s mind towards the end of “The Force Awakens.” He explains how her facial expression changes, first she has an emotional reaction after reading Luke’s mind and later composes herself.
Rey realised that she is Force sensitive in “The Force Awakens,” and her journey to becoming a Jedi is set to be featured in “Star Wars: Episode 8.” The movie will be released on Dec. 15, 2017.
