'Star Wars: Episode 8' production update: Alien horse like creature pictured; strong winds delay filming
An alien horse like creature has been pictured on the set of “Star Wars: Episode 8.” The filming of the movie reportedly suffered a minor setback due to the unpredictable weather conditions in Dubrovnik.
[Spoiler alert]
With the set at Dubrovnik complete, the cast and crew have been filming their scenes at this location. The main street of the city had been transformed to make it look like a location on an alien planet, with lights around the door way and electronic access panels.
Despite the best efforts of the security personnel of the movie, pictures from the set continue to leak online. One of the pictures posted on Ukeuristarwars, shows a man riding an alien horse like creature. The animal is quite tall and has long ears.
Some of the other pictures show extras walking on the street and a prop that appears to be a speeder car. The pictures suggest that director Rian Johnson has chosen to use more practical effects, just as J.J. Abrams had done with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Filming of “Star Wars: Episode 8” suffered a minor setback because of strong winds in Dubrovnik, StarWarsNewsNet reports. Filming was supposed to take place on a ship, but the strong winds led to harbor getting closed down. The ship along with the cast and crew is said to have left the harbor, but only after a lot of delay.
The report also includes a few pictures of some of the extras in the movie. The pictures show that the forthcoming movie will be introducing a new set of aliens in what may be another new planet.
“Star Wars: The Fore awakens” introduced the new planet named Jakku, filled with new alien creatures. It appears as though “Star Wars: Episode 8” is set to do the same. The movie is set to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia and the US.
