'Star Wars Episode 8' spoilers and updates: Kylo Ren not a villain; Fan theory says Luke Skywalker may have killed Rey's parents
“Star Wars Episode 8” is set to be released in 2017
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has given birth to a new generation of Star Wars fans. However, the movie’s plot holes and unexplained details have given rise to a host of fans theories as to the character origins and their relations with one another.
“Star Wars Episode 8” has reportedly already finished filming and is already in the post production phase. One of the biggest speculations for this upcoming Star Wars film is a major plot twist which some fans have predicted online. This involves Rey being the daughter of Luke. This is because “The Force Awakens” ended with a scene where viewers were shown an emotional meeting between Luke Skywalker and Rey, whose origins are still unknown.
Another fan prediction for the next instalment in the Star Wars franchise is that Rey might be a villain in the making after all, and Kylo Ren is the good guy. This twist is actually similar when Anakin Skywalker’s real father was revealed back then to be no other than Darth Vader.

There is another fan prediction that has been going around that Luke is not the father, but is the one who killed Rey’s parents, reports the Morning Ledger. Again, in “The Force Awakens,” Rey travelled across the galaxy just to find Luke Skywalker when she completed the map. The hanging ending has given birth to all sorts of speculations as to that encounter, but not all of them could be true.
A user on Reddit says that after the seventh instalment in the Star Wars franchise, it has already been established that Rey is associated with the Light Side of the force while Kylo Ren serves the Dark Side. The ending could be that their roles could get switched up and both struggle in an epic battle between two opposing sides.
This could be when Rey finds out that Luke killed her parents, she gets hurt and vows vengeance. This will lead her to search for herself and eventually end up with the Dark Side and become the main villain. This is in line with another theory which says that the Dark Side had always been interested in acquiring Rey because the force seems stronger with her.
“Star Wars Episode 8” is set to be released in 2017. It has yet to be given an official title.
[Update: This article previously mentioned that the movie will be released in 2018, which is incorrect. This has now been corrected. We regret the error].
