'Star Wars: Episode 8' theory: Luke Skywalker powers; Cliffhangers to expect
A theory looks at a possible scene in “Star Wars: Episode 8” that will showcase the incredible powers Luke Skywalker has developed over the years. Very little has been revealed about the character so far, with the previous movie only teasing that he was hiding on the planet Ahch-To.
[Spoiler alert]
A new theory posted on the YouTube channel of Mike Zeroh points to a previous leak about the movie that stated that the producers were replicating an updated version of a Star Destroyer. This Star Destroyer was going to be destroyed in one of the scenes in the upcoming movie.
The leak suggests the Star Destroyer would be destroyed in a planet full of water. Mike believes this ship to be First Order’s Finalizer and the planet to be Ahch-To. He points out that Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) had previously said that he had to film an elaborate special effects scene, in which he didn’t have to do much.
Mike believes that Hamill was speaking about a scene in which Luke brings down a Star Destroyer in “Star Wars: Episode 8” using his Jedi powers. Such a scene is featured in “Force Unleashed” video game, in which the character Starkiller uses his Force powers to crash a Star Destroyer on the planet. The upcoming movie could take inspiration from that scene, the theory suggests.
In another video, Mike speculates the possible cliffhanger in the new movie. While “The Force Awakens” had a cliffhanger about Luke Skywalker, Mike believes the next movie will focus on Rey (Daisy Ridley).
“Star Wars: Episode 8” is expected to reveal some back story of Rey, but Mike believes that the movie will only tease a few details and leave the rest for “Episode 9.” The main focus of the upcoming movie is expected to be the journey of Rey, as she trains to be a Jedi.
