The production of “Star Wars: Episode 9” is reportedly slated to begin in June this year. The delay in filming may have been because of the changes in the script that director and writer J. J. Abrams made.

In a new video (see below), Mike Zeroh points out that production is set to begin for the final film in the new trilogy. Principal photography was originally scheduled by late January, which was later pushed to early February. However, the plan at the moment is to begin in June.

Mike suggests that the delay may have something to do with the changes Abrams made to the script. The production date was pushed after the director pitched the script to Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Why are they shooting in the summer? There may be another desert planet in the next film. The new movies are loosely following the structure of the highly successful original trilogy. Fans will remember that “The Return of the Jedi” started with a desert planet for the heroes’ storyline.

Mike suggests that a good way for Abrams to tell this new story would be to have a time jump. “The Last Jedi” had no gap from “The Force Awakens,” but this time, it may be different. Will Rey emerge as a fully trained Jedi in the final film? Although there’s no one to train her, there’s still the set of books from the Jedi Temple that can guide her path.

As far as the plot of the final movie is concerned, Mike believes it may explore details about the Prime Jedi, who was the first to wield a lightsaber and start the Jedi Order. A good reason to explore this aspect of the lore is that it opens the door to powerful new Force abilities, like the Force projection Luke Skywalker used in “The Last Jedi,” which may be something he learnt from the books.
