‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Update: Lupita Nyong’o and ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Gwendoline Christie Confirmed
The much awaited sequel to the "Star Wars" franchise has been slowly getting momentum as updates on the film are being dished out. In the recent announcement from the Star Wars Web site, the Academy award winner Lupita Nyong'o will be joining the cast together with the "Game of Thrones" Season 4 star Gwendoline Christie. The two actresses are a great addition to the stellar cast for the "Star Wars: Episode 7."
The president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy shared her thoughts on the two actress being part of the film. "I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," said Kennedy. She then added "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."
And she is indeed correct as the cast of Episode VII is joined by veterans of the franchise and fresh new faces. Original star wars Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are confirmed to be present in the film. While newcomers Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega will star in their first "Star Wars" movie.
The Best Supporting Actress winner has been rumoured to have a role in the film for months but it was only recently that her participation in the production was confirmed, according to The Guardian. On the other hand, the presence of the "Game of Thrones" star was not expected. The roles of the two women are still unknown.
Other than the upcoming role in the "Star Wars" franchise, Gwendoline is also set to appear in "The Hunger Games" series as a rebel leader. She will be appearing in the part 2 of the film "Mockingjay" as Commander Lyme. It will be interesting to see her in a different arena but she will still be playing a tough and warrior-like woman like Brienne of Tarth.
Fans of the movie franchise are looking forward to the sequel and some are already guessing the possible plot and roles of the announced cast. The "Star Wars: Episode VII" is expected to be released in Dec. 2015 under the direction of J.J. Abrams.
