'Star Wars: Episode VIII' production update: Benicio Del Toro may be filming in Dubrovnik
Benicio Del Toro may have started filming his scenes for “Star Wars: Episode VIII.” New reports indicate that the actor may be in Dubrovnik, where filming of the movie is said to be taking place.
According to a report by Making Star Wars, tents have been set up around Dubrovnik, suggesting that the production of the movie is taking place in the city. The presence of Del Toro in the city hasn’t been confirmed yet, but there are rumours about the actor being present there for a “vacation.”
Reports indicate that the filming in Dubrovnik will take place for at least seven days. The production is reportedly taking place at the Stradun, Banja Beach and Rector’s Palace.
There are also rumours that cast members Carrie Fisher is also in the city to film her scenes. However, there is also no confirmation that the actress is indeed in Dubrovnik. The report suggests that it is too early for Fisher to be filming her scenes.
To facilitate a smooth production of “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” “special traffic regulations” have reportedly been established and a shop near Stradun will be closed. The people of the city are said to be excited about scenes of the movie being filmed there.
Scenes filmed at Dubrovnik are expected to show a new planet in the movie. If Del Toro is filming at this location then his character may be found in this new planet. It is not clear what character the actor will be playing. Early rumours indicated that he may be playing a villain, but there is no confirmation about that yet.
“Star Wars: Episode VIII” is being directed by Rian Johnson. Some of the cast members of the movie are Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Mark Hamill (Luke Sjywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma).
