‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens': Andy Serkis Confirms Trailer Voiceover, Actor Plays Two Roles In The Movie
It's been confirmed that Andy Serkis is the man behind the voiceover in the recently released teaser for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." In a recent interview, the actor admitted he was not prepared for the immense response from fans of his involvement in the preview.Likewise, lending his voice is reportedly not the only role the actor has in the movie.
U.K.'s Huffington Post claimed the actor was "overwhelmed" by the reactions from fans over his voiceover. In an exclusive interview Andy Serkis shared how movie director J.J. Abrams initially asked him to do the voiceover for the teaser. The actor revealed that he initially thought it was "great" to be involved in the preview but didn't really think his voice would create a stir to viewers.
"JJ said, 'Andy, your voice is in the trailer,' and I just thought, 'that's great,'" Andy Serkis told Huffington Post.
"Of course, I knew everybody was waiting for the trailer, but somehow I didn't really connect the two," he added.
During the interview, Andy Serkis almost let slip his other role in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" when he said, "It is amazing to be part of and (Abrams) he's made such an incredible job of it and honouring the original." The actor instead decided to refrain from spilling more details after reassuring viewers that the movie is in "great hands."
However, Jedi News has some interesting information regarding Andy Serkis' involvement in the sci-fi film. Sources told the site that the actor has been cast to play two roles. These sources supposedly also confirmed that Andy Serkis is the voiceover behind the trailer and not Benedict Cumberbatch.
As for these two roles, the first as expected deals with motion capture, which the actor is famous for in his previous films such as "The Lord of The Rings" and "Planet of the Apes." However, for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" the actor will reportedly bring life to a "group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic motion capture characters." Even parkour expert and YouTube sensation Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke are believed to be among the actors cast to portray these characters.
The second role involves Daisy Ridley's Kira. Jedi News claims Andy Serkis will have a "pivotal role in the first act story arc that entwines with Daisy Ridley's backstory." No details were provided regarding this role but the site claims it "may have more to it than it seems in the first instance." Nonetheless, all these new information regarding the actor's involvement in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" remains as speculations until confirmed.
