‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ – First Official Look At Chewbacca From The Production Set
The first official look of the character Chewbacca from the production set was revealed by the director J.J. Abrams. The video is part of a "Thank you" message from the crew of the movie for the fans who supported a charity initiative. Meanwhile Marvel has released a description of the character.
J.J. Abrams has been promoting an initiative to donate funds for the UNICEF Innovation Labs and Programs. He has been posting pictures and videos from the sets of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to encourage fans to make donations for the cause. The latest video shows Chewbacca among the crew members saying thank you to the fans.
Chewbacca is the only popular cast member featuring in the video, apart from the droid R2-D2. Actors like Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher do not feature in the video. Chewbacca is seen with his characteristic growl in the video with the subtitle that says thank you. Viewers can only see the face of the character and a belt over his left shoulder.
Chewbacca was also the focus of the "Who's Who" campaign started by Marvel. The campaign will feature a new "key player" in every instalment. The character description that will feature in the campaign will only include the back story of the character and no information from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be provided.
The description about Chewbacca by Marvel has information of the events till "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope." The comic books from Marvel are said to pick up the story after the events of this movie. His story begins with the Clone Wars, where fans may have seen him helping Yoda escape.
Chewbacca is mostly known as the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon and as a friend of the notorious smuggler Han Solo. The duo was seen looking out for their self interest before helping Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Their actions made them the enemies of the Empire but were lauded as heroes by the Rebels.
Chewbacca and Han Solo are set to return in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" after a gap of over three decades. They were last seen on screen in the 1983 movie from the franchise. The first trailer of the movie that was released recently does not feature any of the veteran actors from the original trilogy.
